We have an Oil Palm nursery in our Kulathupuzha Estate. The seedling have to be developed in the nursery for a period of at least 12 months prior to field planting. Our nursery is in two stages, Primary and Secondary. The sprouts are planted in small covers 15cm X 20cm (250guage) and grown up to 4 months in the primary nursery. The potting mixture consists of sand, soil and cow dung in the ratio of 1:1:1. The transplanting is done to be secondary nursery at the end of the 4th month in the primary after proper culling. The seedlings are transplanted to the secondary covers of dimensions 50cm X 40cm (500guage) after filling the potting mixture of sand, soil and cow dung in the ratio of 1:1:1. Inorganic manuring of N P K M G can be started in the second month as per manuring schedule. The seedlings can be transplanted to the field at the end of 12th month in the secondary after proper culling.
ഓയിൽ പാം ഇന്ത്യക്ക് നിലവിൽ സങ്കരയിനം തൈകൾ വികസിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിന് പ്രധാനമായും കൊല്ലത്തെ കുളത്തുപ്പുഴയിലെ നഴ്സറിയാണുള്ളത്. കമ്പനിയുടെ എസ്റ്റേറ്റുകളിലും കേരളത്തിലെ കർഷകർക്കിടയിലും എണ്ണപ്പനകൃഷി വ്യാപിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിനുവേണ്ടി 12 മാസം പ്രായമുള്ള തൈകളാണ് ഈ നഴ്സറിയിൽ വികസിപ്പിച്ചെടുക്കുന്നത്. നഴ്സറിയുടെ പ്രവർത്തനം രണ്ടു ഘട്ടങ്ങളായി തരം തിരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. ആദ്യ ഘട്ടത്തിൽ 4 മാസം വരെ പ്രായമുള്ള തൈകളാണ് പരിപാലിക്കുന്നത് രണ്ടാം ഘട്ടത്തിൽ 5 മുതൽ 12 മാസം വരെയുള്ള തൈകളും.
